I have not been able to write on my blog for a long time.  This class is really making me work.  But I think I am winning.  Alex is home sick today so I feel that I can catch up a little.  Today we made witches hat for my class and his.  It was fun.  I also want to make something for tpt.  Any suggestions?  Here is a picture of the hats.  Enjoy

Today was the first day for my kindergarten students. Each year we forget how much we need to train our students.  They don't know how to stand in line, walk in line, sit on the carpet or even write their names.  I want my other class back.  Those first graders who know how to do everything.  Well tomorrow is day 2 hopefully they remember what they did today!!!!!

For the first post on my blog I thought I would write why I am so passionate about early childhood education and believe it is so important that children attend school early.  Early childhood is a crucial time for children to learn because this is when they develop the foundation of their brain for learning during the rest of their lives. The things children learn during these years play a very important role in the proper development of children. Children learn by exploring their environment and watching people in everyday life. During the early years of childhood, children best explore and learn through playing.

Here is my favorite poem I thought I share
about what we all learned in kindergarten.

All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten
by Robert Fulghum
Most of what I really need

To know about how to live

And what to do and how to be

I learned in kindergarten.

Wisdom was not at the top

Of the graduate school mountain,

But there in the sandpile at Sunday school.

These are the things I learned:

Share everything.

Play fair.

Don't hit people.

Put things back where you found them.

Clean up your own mess.

Don't take things that aren't yours.

Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.

Wash your hands before you eat.

Flush.

Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.

Live a balanced life –

Learn some and think some

And draw and paint and sing and dance

And play and work everyday some.

Take a nap every afternoon.

When you go out into the world,
Watch out for traffic,

Hold hands and stick together.

Be aware of wonder.
